Port of Moerdijk is easily accessible for seagoing vessels with a draft of 8.5 meters plus or minus the increase/decrease above NAP in fresh water.

  • The maximum height of seagoing vessels sailing to Moerdijk is 45.00 meters at a water level of NAP.
  • The maximum length of seagoing vessels is 201 meters (LOA) and a maximum width of 32.5 meters (BEAM).

Harbour depths

All ports within the Port of Moerdijk have a bottom elevation of NAP -9.0m, measured 43 meters from the top of the quay wall or the top of the slope.

Image situation 1

The current water level is NAP. The maximum draft is 85 dm.

Image situation 2

The current water level is NAP + rise (rise) X.  The maximum draft is now 85 dm + X, with a maximum of 89 dm in fresh water. The UKC (Under Keel Clearance) in the port of Moerdijk is at least 5% of the current draft, in this example 4.5 dm. Please note that the rise/rise X can be negative.

Under Keel Clearance

The Under Keel Clearance (UKC) in the port of Moerdijk is at least 5% of the current draft and applies in all waterways and ports. The increase/rise X can be negative. The current water depth at the moorings may vary compared to the indicated depths in the ports.

This is the responsibility of the facility owners. In addition to the restrictions imposed by the Moerdijk Port Authority, there are other restrictions in the Oude Maas and Dordtse Kil waterways. These restrictions fall under the responsibility of Rijkswaterstaat and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.

For ships sailing to and from Moerdijk with a LOA > 175 meters, a special exemption must be requested from Rijkswaterstaat.
