The West Brabant region has once again been named 'Logistics Hotspot of the Year'. Yesterday, Remco Heus (Port of Moerdijk), together with Daan Quaars and Jack Zagers (on behalf of Logistics Community Brabant, LCB) received the honorary prize  during the Summit Logistic Hotspots 2023. West Brabant also won the award in 2017 and 2018 and has been doing so since 2016. part of the top three of Logistiek.nl's annual survey.

“On November 29, the West Brabant region was declared 'logistics hotspot' of the year by Logisitiek.nl, the Dutch platform for logistics professionals. A total of 49 experts from across the logistics spectrum participated in the study. A well-functioning logistics system connected to all modalities connects the region with Europe and the rest of the world. A nice compliment for our region and the municipality of Moerdijk," explains councilor Danny Dingemans.

Port of Moerdijk is proud of the recognition that the region has once again received. Remco Heus: “Port of Moerdijk is an important economic engine for Brabant and a logistics hub of European allure where transport modes by road, water, rail and pipeline come together in a good way. This is already happening on the existing port and industrial estate of Moerdijk and with the sustainable development of Logistics Park Moerdijk we will continue to be among the top logistics hotspots in the future.”

LOGISTICS HOTSPOTS ELECTION

Last year the top three was a completely Brabant affair, with the Den Bosch - Oss - Veghel area in third place. This year, the runners-up Almere-Lelystad-Zeewolde and Keypoint Midden Limburg (Roermond-Weert) managed to conquer the other places in the top three. Nevertheless, Brabant is proudly in the lead again. “We are very proud of West Brabant and especially that the prize remains in Brabant,” says Daan Quaars. “In my new role as director of Logistics Community Brabant, I represent the interests of the entire logistics Brabant region, so it would be great if all Brabant regions were represented in the top three again next year. Because this province is actually the logistics region of the country.”

According to Quaars, Brabant's success is not only due to its favorable geographical location. But also because of the complete mix of transport modalities, the availability of trained personnel, the infrastructure and the close cooperation between entrepreneurs and government. In addition, the logistics 'hotspots' in the province are also fully committed to innovation, sustainability and digitalization. “These will really be the most important trends for all logistics hotspots in the coming years.”
