Six infrastructure projects central in first Cluster Energy Strategy Rotterdam-Moerdijk


In the first Cluster Energy Strategy (CES) Rotterdam-Moerdijk, six key projects have been selected that are a catalyst for the energy transition in the region. They are also essential for the national economy and our country’s future earning capability.

A workgroup of representatives of Deltalinqs, the province of Zuid Holland, the Port of Moerdijk Authority, Stedin, and the Port of Rotterdam Authority (chairman) analysed the future energy flows and sustainability plans of the industry and focused on how to retain and, if necessary, strengthen the strategic position of Rotterdam-Moerdijk in north-western Europe. Eventually, six projects emerged.

MM Metal Recycling builds new Moerdijk warehouses


Five years after developing their first location in the Port of Moerdijk, MM Metal Recycling BV is expanding. The Dutch subsidiary of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and Hanwa Co. Ltd. will build new warehouses next to the existing European collection and inspection point for E-scrap. The new buildings will be mainly warehousing incoming and outgoing cargoes, they will be on a plot of almost 3 hectares.

Dutch Seaports win International Award for Sustainability


The Dutch seaports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Terneuzen/Vlissingen, Moerdijk, and Groningen have jointly won the ‘World Ports Sustainability Award’. They received the award for a joint project aimed at the application of OECD guidelines for seaports. These government guidelines concern corporate social responsibility in international business. The seaports examined how they could contribute to making occasionally risky cargo flows more sustainable.

Frigo Breda establishes new waterfront Coldstore in Moerdijk


Frigo Breda, a worldwide player in transport and Coldstore solutions for refrigerated and frozen cargo will establish itself per 1st June 2020 in the Port of Moerdijk. The new location will measure 5,8 hectares and have an own quay of 300 meters. Frigo Breda will realize a waterfront Coldstore with a capacity of 70.000 pallets and a new Headquarters. Port of Moerdijk will attract a serious player in this market which will support a stronger cluster of refrigerated and frozen cargo handling capacity.
